I visited "Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall" with my children.
This museum is located near "People's Square", a famous park in the center of Shanghai city.
Before visiting here, I was afraid that this museum would not be for children, however, actually there were lots of impressive and attractive displays.
Prior booking is required. You can make a reservation at C-trip app or WeChat-Miniprogram.
The museum is a white and five-story building located just outside exit 2 of subway station "People's square".
First, in the entrance hall, you can see a wide screen on which an animation of Shanghai city's famous spots are projected. In the first floor, there are also maps showing the city’s expansion.
In the entrance of the second floor, an animation showing a transition of the city's boundary is projected on the floor. It is an easy-to-understand visual map.
There are lots of dioramas of famous and historical spots in Shanghai.
How magnificent! You will feel as if you were visiting many parts of Shanghai.

The latter part of the third floor is about the future of Shanghai.
An animation showing Shanghai's future is very impressive. It is like a Doraemon movie.

You can learn what the smart city is like through a tablet on the screen.The theme of the fourth floor is "living with nature".
You can learn what Shanghai city has been addressing to preserve the natural environment.

I did not know such a wetland was present in Shanghai.

Children can learn about famous spots and development of Shanghai city.
Visual displays like dioramas and animations are easy-to-understand for children as well as parents. The aisles are so wide that small children can walk around the museum.
The explanation in English will be helpful.
Also, this museum is located in the center of the city, so you can visit here on your way to sightseeing.
